Standard Membership - Frequently Asked Questions

Why has JamDom changed to annual membership model?

JamDom has absorbed the costs of running the site; however, we are now faced with the reality that we can no longer continue to do so. When it became obvious we could no longer absorb the operating costs of maintaining the site, we explored other models (i.e. to attract advertisers) to cover the costs. Charging players was a LAST RESORT and was only considered after we explored all other options to cover the expenses. This wasn’t an easy decision to make, however it was necessary in order to keep JamDom accessible and available for you.

Why do I have to pay an annual fee when I’ve already made a one-time donation?

When we introduced the JamDom Building Fund / donation project in 2010, it was our intention to attract major advertisers to cover the bulk of the operating cost, and to request a small one-time donation from our players to help with the immediate operating expenses. To attract major advertisers in the social media (Facebook/Twitter) era, it requires a site to have millions of users. JamDom is in its growth stage therefore the model to have advertisers cover the bulk of the operating cost isn’t appropriate at this time. It’s for this reason that we’ve now turned to the players who enjoy the site on a daily basis for your ongoing support.

What are the benefits of the Standard Membership?

Some of the benefits include access to Ranked lounges, maintain a consistent rank, and ability to compete in tournaments. See Chart for more details.

What’s the cost of the Standard Membership?

Act now and lock in the rate of $20.99 per year as long as you continue to renew each year without a lapse in your membership. Any lapse in membership will revert to the default membership price at the time that the membership is re-instated.

Who does Standard Membership affect?

A standard membership will be mandatory for any player who is neither a VIP member nor a 60-day guest player. When a VIP membership or 60-day guest player expires, then the player must upgrade to standard membership in order to partake in any of the site features, including basic game play. This also applies to existing players who have paid the former account activation fee, if they do not upgrade by the deadline that will be communicated to them.

If I don’t upgrade as a Standard Member, will I maintain my rank?

No, existing players who have not upgraded to Standard Member by the final deadline will lose their rank and will be defaulted to Guest status.

If I paid the $7 activation fee in the past will I be required to upgrade as a Standard Member?

Yes, all members except active VIP members will be required to upgrade to “Standard Membership”. If you’ve paid $7 within the last 3 months, email us at membership{@}JamDom.com so that we can adjust the rate for the first year of your standard membership.

When does new Annual Standard Membership model take effect?

The new Annual Standard Membership model takes effect immediately for new Guest players (new users to JamDom). For members who’ve paid the $7 account activation fee, we’ll be rolling out the new Standard Membership model to them by the end of 2012. Stay tuned for more details.

When my VIP membership expires will I have to upgrade to Annual Standard Membership?

If a player doesn’t renew his/her VIP package, he/she will be required to upgrade to Annual Standard Membership to maintain his/her rank, have access to all lounges and compete in tournaments.

What’s a Guest Player on Jamdom?

60-day Guest Players are limited to practice lounges only. They don’t get to compete in tournaments nor do they get to enjoy all the other benefits of the site.
